Barbering Professional Standard Apprenticeship

Course information

The Barbering environment is always client facing which can be varied in size, style and ambiance, from a small micro barbershop to franchises or large street premises.

This occupation is found in the hair & beauty sector. In daily work they will need to interact with a wide and diverse range of clients, the barbershop team, other associated hairdressing and beauty professionals. They should also be able to promote themselves, their organisation, products and services using a variety of channels.

An employee in this occupation will be responsible for demonstrating industry standards of professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills, teamwork, retail and selling skills for clients.
They will also be able to complete a range of barbering services to create a variety of looks.

What You Will Learn

You will learn a range of Barbering skills tailored to clients’ requirements, whilst an outstanding service.

You will be able to shampoo/condition hair, cut hair using a variety of techniques, style and finish hair to create a variety of looks. You will also learn to cut facial hair into shapes and provide shaving services, as well as learn how to carry out consultations with clients, demonstrating the professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills, retail skills along with safe working practises.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have a minimum GCSEs at grades 4-9 in English and mathematics and have an employer willing to take you on as an apprentice.

Assessment

You will be assessed through either written assignments, end point assessments or online multiple-choice questions, as well as practical assessments on customers in our commercial areas open to the public.

Progression

On successful completion you can go into employment.
